Introduction
The Planetside Sunday Fun Raid is a long-standing GOTR tradition. It's our chance to let our hair down, step down from faction targets and in-game alerts, and pursue our own agenda: just having a good time. For many years now we've incorporated a democratic polling system that lets Ghosts pick the weekly theme from a list of our historical successes and the occasional breakout new idea.
This Standard Operating Procedure covers the basics of coordinating and running SFRs for old and new leaders alike.
Leadership
SFRs are run by a small group of volunteer leaders who must meet the following qualifications:
- Must be willing to run at least 1 SFR event monthly
- Must be of Ghost Veteran rank or above
- Preferred to be of Captain rank or above. If not Captain rank or above, must be trialled, then approved as SFR leader by majority of the current SFR team.
- One-off guest SFR leaders are also approved by simple majority of the current SFR team.
- Via private message or TS, SFR leaders must set up a rota to cover SFRs weekly.
- SFR leaders also must approve adding new themes to the Official SFR Theme List by simple majority.
There is no strict cap on the number of SFR leaders but 6 is a practical maximum given the monthly requirement.
Announcing and planning an SFR
The process for preparing an SFR is quite easy.
- The SFR leader for the week makes a forum post no later than the PS2 Thursday Raid, adding to it a poll with 3-4 choices for that week's theme.
- Unless approved by simple majority of the SFR leader group, poll choices should only come from the Official Sunday Fun Raid Themes list.
- Themes may not be repeated any more often than once per four weeks.
- The poll may use "pick one" or "pick many" mechanics.
- The poll should be set to end at 23:59 ET on the SFR Sunday. This prevents votes from continuing to be counted after the event has ended.
- Use the Topic Tags to add the SFR tag, and check the box to use it as a topic prefix.
- SFR leader should remind a site admin (robocpf1, Reignman, shinything, Nihil) to promote the post to the forum sidebar.
- On Sunday, the majority winner in the poll wins.
- If the top two choices are close, the SFR Leader may pick their preferred theme, or choose to split the event between the two themes. Alternately, the runner-up may be picked as the official theme for the following week's SFR.
Running an SFR
- SFR form-up is 19:45 ET, SFR roll-out is 20:00 ET.
- SFR lead must maintain SFR TS comms as a friendly, jovial, inclusive, "PG-13" environment (i.e., no more than the occasional "adult" topic). Call Tac Chat or Clear Comms as appropriate if things get out of hand.
- If a decision must be made, SFR must focus on fun over alerts/VS command/VS objectives
- SFR lead should switch up the theme to one of the other poll choices when it becomes impractical to maintain the original theme. Example: Lib Bombardment ends when resources are gone or the enemy has pulled too much AA to make aircraft practical.
- Otherwise, follow standard guidelines for being a good Squad Lead during regular operations.
- SFRs usually finish by 22:00 ET.
