GOTR uses a two squad "strike team" or if you're in DA, "Angel Team" system that puts two squads of infantry together in the same channel. Many outfits break this down further by having only a single squad in each channel, sometimes sending each squad to a different objective. While I don't consider this to be a "bad" system, I feel that it separates GOTR units too much. Many times 12 people is not enough to properly take an objective, and if you need more than 12 and have to call for backup, why not just send in two squads in the first place? There's a fine line between minimal use of resources and playing smart. I'd rather be on the "playing smart" side of the fence instead of spreading my units too thin.
Two squads (24 people) is a balanced number that allows a single unit to have diversity and strength in class composition while not becoming a complete mess on comms. We don't put three squads or a full platoon in a single channel because it's insane to do that unless you're running very strict comms, which we dislike. We like being laid back while at the same time being organized and effective. While in a single squad you have to split 6 and 6 to stay on the point and suppress the spawns, with a Strike Team you can send an entire squad to the point (6 on the capture, and 6 covering) and the other squad to suppress the spawns. This is far superior to having only a single squad on hand, while not as "blobby" as having 3 or 4 squads milling around the area doing nothing except attracting attention.
GOTR is one of the very few outfits utilizing a successful divisional system - most other outfits do not have divisions and can structure their massive infantry forces in a different way. If they need to add more troops, they just send another squad, and keep stacking squads until they win. If they do need tanks or planes, they send a whole squad to do it en masse - a randomly picked squad which, when it comes into contact with our trained and specialized PG and WW pilots, will get demolished. You've seen the air blobs. You've seen the tank blobs. Did any of them last long against FEAR?
As a combined arms force, GOTR needs to stay together to be most effective - the tanks, air, and infantry work in concert to accomplish their goals. WW and PG are still rebuilding since the adjustments to the Magrider and the massive 4th Empire exodus from VS. There is no shortage of infantry players compared to the amount of vehicle players that are active right now.
Furthermore, having two squads in one channel cuts down on reinforcement and communication delay. If you can quickly communicate with all the members of another squad instead of having to go through command chat, you can more easily and quickly deal with threats. With more than two squads, it becomes too unwieldy. Two squads can also effectively use the squad bounding techniques we teach, while 6 and 6 has a more difficult time with this.
