With PlanetSide 2 being micro-transaction (free to play) based, with options for subscription, you might be wondering what we expect you to "buy". Our official policy is this: outfit officers will never require you, or pressure you, to buy StationCash (SC), or to get anything bought with SC. In accordance with the Zeroth Pillar, Real Life Comes First, we will never expect you to sacrifice your income/allowance to join or stay with us. If we did so, it would cause resentment among those who don't have money to burn on games, or even if they just don't want to buy in game things with real money. We do not require donations to cover the costs of the website either. This is a casual gaming group. We want you to have fun with us, not feel left out or pressured.

There are several good reasons to buy SC, or to subscribe to PS2 as a Premium Member. The most important is to fund continued operation and development of the game. SOE has to pay their developers, for bandwidth, for hardware and so on. In PlanetSide 1, when subscriptions declined so did development. Fewer new vehicles, fewer events, fewer support reps, bugs went unstomped, hackers ran amok. The second side effect of declining subscriptions was further declines in subscriptions. The best way to get a crowd is to have a crowd. A big part of what makes PS1 and PS2 special is the epic scale of battle. Hundreds of troops colliding at once. When a few people leave the game, those who remain lose that epic scale... and they leave. You can help make PS2 last a decade, have continuous improvement and massive warfare buy occasionally buying SC, and/or by subscribing. Subscriptions provide reliable income which in turn means the developers have reliable income. Buying SC during a double or triple sale makes it a much better deal, so keep your eyes open for those.

The longer the term of your subscription (monthly, semi-annual, annual), the sooner the high end of the benefits begin. The annual option costs about $10 per month.

If you decide to buy Boosts, please consider squad boosts - boosts that instead of giving you a 50% increase in exp, give 30% but also give your entire squad an additional 3%.

We will use StationCash Cards as prizes from time to time. For instance, we might offer a card as a prize for a fundraising raffle.
