Internal Game Ranks and Outfit Titles

We use a lot of different "ranks" and "titles" within Ghosts of the Revolution, and I thought it only fair to make sure everyone's on the same page regarding what each different name we use means.

To begin, there is a distinct difference between your in-game "rank" and your "title" within the outfit. Because Planetside 2 is currently very limited in terms of the outfit system, all I can do is rename and change the permission of the 5 ranks they give me. Hopefully in future patches they will upgrade our ability to add ranks. For now though, here is the list of titles and ranks (in descending order) in our outfit.

Outfit Titles

Outfit Leader (OL) - The person currently leading the entire outfit's operations.

Eidolon Council - A council comprised of the top officers in each game.

Outfit Executive Officer (OXO) - The outfit's second-in-command. Usually also a Division Commander, this is the person who makes major decisions if the OL is unavailable.

Division Commander (DC) - One of the "top brass". A DC is the head of one of the divisions in GOTR - Death Angels, FEAR, Daemon Legion, etc. Traditionally, the CO (commanding officer) of PEST is given Division Commander status and is also the second in command of the Daemon Legion.

Executive Officer (XO) - The DC's assistant, aide, and adjutant. The second-in-command of the division, and if necessary the CO of a subdivision.

Tactical Officer (TO) - An under-officer in a division, usually with some of their own responsibilities. Tactical Officers focus on keeping things running smoothly, bringing important intel to the DC/XO's attention, or leading a specific group - like a WW air squadron or one of DA's fireteams.

Recruiting Officer (RO) - An officer who recruits (obviously). These are specially-commissioned members that focus on getting new blood into the outfit and making sure recruits are acclimated to our community. ROs do not have any general leadership responsibilities and exist outside the "chain of command", though some hold other ranks as well.

Veteran Officer (VO) - A former flag officer. One who has been an officer before but no longer has any current leadership responsibilities. Some VOs continue to have roles within their divisions while others act as role models and advisers.

Captain - Our Non-Commissioned Officer rank. You have proven that you are adept at leading squads and running operations. You have been given access to the Command Channel to coordinate with the other officers, and you are involved in command decisions for your division. Captains, like TOs, are usually given specific squad-based responsibilities within the division.

Member - You're a member of the outfit and have joined one of the divisions. You are now eligible for leadership and full outfit privileges and access.

Recruit - You've just been invited into the outfit. After you've logged onto this website, made your first post, are actually in the Planetside outfit, are on TeamSpeak, have joined or requested to join a division and have attended two (2) GOTR operations of any kind, you become a full Member.

Planetside 2 In-game Outfit Ranks

Apparition-in-Charge - the Outfit Leader gets to choose the name of his own rank. KRAB was the "Grim Reaper", for instance.

Command Staff - Any flag officer. TO, XO, CO, DC. Some ROs may have this to access recruit applications.

Shadow Captain - Any Captain in any of the divisions. "Captain" is the stepping-stone rank between "Member" and "Officer". Also, Recruiting Officers hold the "Captain" rank in-game.

Ghost Member - The first full Member rank. After you've logged onto this website, made your first post, are actually in the Planetside outfit, are on TS3, have joined or requested to join a division and have attended two (2) GOTR operations of any kind, you are promoted to Ghost Member.

Zombie/Inactive - People that we've just invited to the outfit, or members that have gone inactive long ago and have returned. If you're marked as an Inactive but you're a returning member, let an officer know. Once we've confirmed you're on the site and can log on TeamSpeak, you will be restored to Ghost Member and full privileges will be restored.
