Choosing the Proper Attack Vector

**The Following was written by Pawnee (RIP bud), and I am keeping it for us to read and use.**

All too many times, when under pressure from an attacking force , it is common to pull a vehicle, group up, and head directly into the fray. This is usually not the good idea.

Generally the greenies are hitting the oncoming force head on. The oncoming force is usually dug in and ready for anything coming at them. Think of it as trying to pierce a blob of jello with a pencil. You may get in a little but the jello just folds around you, sometimes to the point that you have no escape except for respawn. In a heavy battle respawn gives the enemy time to regroup, move up, and stop you from getting out of the base.

Flanking:

If you can left flank or right flank the enemy while the greenies are hitting them head on you have some great advantages:

- You are generally shooting at their back or side.

- The enemy fire is usually not totally targeting you, his mind is elsewhere.

- Many of the enemy greenies turn their attention to you allowing your greenies to move

forward.

- You easily find support vehicles (AMS's loadies)

- You have a better shot at strikers behind a hill or you force them to expose themselves.

- Easy kills on retreating vehicles that have been damaged.

- Generally you have more options for retreat/re-group.

- Most importantly you have the element of surprise and the first couple of shots.

In short you have a great advantage and in just a few numbers can actually break their hold on a spot (especially if they are sitting on top of an LLU or invading your base). It forces the enemy to defend at least two fronts instead of concentrating on a vehicle bay or pad. In this case they will start to drop back.

Water:

To many times we do not use water to our advantage with mags. Here are some of the advantages:

- Less camera shake for gunners.

- Stable platform for sniping targets. Allows you to use zoom.

- Harder to tell what direction you are going when you strafe.

- Forces air craft to come after you exposing them to AA with little cover.

- Less cloakers, mines, infantry AV, etc. to worry about.

How to you tell what attack vector to use? Easy...

- Choose the vector the greenies are NOT using.

- Choose a vector that gives you an advantage (hills for height, water, tree cover)

- Choose one that you know will surprise them giving you the important first shots.

Also, recon can help with attack vector placement.

These things are so important when taking on a larger force. Ask General's Lee and Grant.

Hope this helps....

I'm really sad that it won't ever apply, according to the devs. :( Mags should float above water, and what's funny is that there are piles of NC and TR players on the forums agreeing. It's only fair if NC get to keep their damn Vanguard shield.

Sadly, as i understand it SOE doesn't want to give the mag the ability to hover on water again if it ever even applies again, have this thing about all MBTs being able to go on the same terrain and such *shakes head*
