** This is an OUTDATED PLANETSIDE 1 ARTICLE **

Well don't! As a new player, you have lots of interesting guns at your disposal. Below are some methods for getting kills in Planetside as a Br 0-8 player.

Option 1. UNIMAX! - The nice thing about MAXes is that you have 600 armor to figure our how to kill the bad guys. As an infantry in agile armor, it can seem that as soon as you see the enemy, you are already dead. Of course there are plenty of ways to kick butt in agile but Ill get to that later.

One of the selling points for VS MAXes is that they can fly. This makes assaulting bases lots O fun. Grab a "Quasar" max config (put some medpacks in the inventory in case you get burned), and make a run (hit Q) at an enemy held base. Be sure the wall turrets are destroyed or they will kill you quickly. Hop over the wall to the nearest stairwell and hide inside. Infantry and constantly moving up and down wall stairwells to defend the walls. Your Quasar will make quick work of them. There are plenty of other ways to use your Quasar of course but I find this one to be the most satisfying. Our AV and AA maxes are fun too. Play around with them for a while until you get good at them. Remember that they are not too good vs infantry unless you are a damn good shot.

Option 2. Sweeper - The Sweeper shotgun is actually quite an effective indoor weapon. A good shooter in agile armor can do circles around an enemy in heavier armor and kill him in 4-5 shots. When I first started playing Planetside (back in beta) I was used to games like Medal of Honor and Team Fortress Classic where you could spam fire and kill stuff. This does not work with the sweeper. The key to killing with this gun is WAITING until your crosshair is on the enemy. if you watch your crosshair closely and only pull the trigger when it crosses the enemy, you will land each shot. This takes practice but within a day or 2, you will be a sweeper champ.

Option 3. Surpressor - I'm sad to say, I have gotten more kills with this weapon than I have with any medium assault or heavy assault weapon. This is mainly due to the fact that I have a difficult time tapping the trigger. I like to hold it down and go crazy. Well if that is your game style, the surpressor is for you. Although it only has 25 rounds per mag, the chance of each of those rounds hitting during automatic fire is much higher. If you spawn into a room full of enemies and don't have enough time to grab your other loadouts, you can do a lot of damage with it. Like the sweeper, it simply requires staying on target. However, unlike the sweeper, this gun is much more forgiving on strafing left and right.

Don't forget grenades! - Don't forget to bring a set of plasma grenades. To you vets, I know I know. Plasma nades don't do much damage. They do burn over time however. This tends to scare less hardened players deeper down a hallway or behind a tree. This could buy you the time to pull out your main weapon but it is also nice because it lights up cloaked infantry like a Christmas Tree.

Oh and a set of jammer nades is nice too for clearing mines and such in your way. Not to mention clearing boomers indoors.
